Fund Essential Equipment and Technology
The department has identified needs that will make it operate better for our community, but current operations budgets do not always allow for these expenses. Our efforts have helped the purchase K-9's, tactical equipment for the Special Assignment Unit (SWAT), camera gear, and ballistic shields for patrol officers just to name a few.
Provide Financial Assistance to Employees and Their Families
The Foundation focuses on helping Phoenix sworn and non-sworn employees and their loved ones in crises situations. This includes fundraising for families of fallen officers, providing living expenses in emergency situations, Police Week travel expenses for the family and squad mates of fallen officers, and providing birthday gifts for the dependent children of fallen officers until the age of 18.
Recognize Employees and Citizens that Demonstrate Exceptional Courage in Protecting Our Communities
Making sure that department employees and volunteers including the COPS program feel valued is a important role of the Foundation. Each year we sponsor the department awards banquet, helping to pay for videos, awards and anything needed to make the event successful. We also fund a memorial wall at department headquarters in recognition of all fallen officers. To date, 38 lives have been lost.
